Park geed up for Liverpool

United were hurt by defeat at Anfield earlier in the season and will be fired up for Sunday's encounter with Liverpool at Old Trafford.

That's the war cry of Ji-sung Park, who says the champions are determined to halt a three-game losing streak against the Merseysiders, including the 2-0 away reversal in October.

"We are looking forward to the game against Liverpool," Park said. "We lost at Anfield earlier this season, so we are ready to play against them and this time I hope we show our strength."

Now in his fifth season at Old Trafford, Park is accustomed to the electric atmosphere that this fixture always produces, and is calling on United fans for more of the same.

"You can feel the atmosphere is different for a game against Liverpool than for other games, he added. "You know the history and the rivalry – there have been some great games between the two teams."

"The atmosphere will be fantastic on Sunday and the fans need to get behind us and cheer us to victory."

Victory would keep United above Chelsea and Arsenal at the top, with another tricky game ticked off an ever-shortening fixture list. Park is satisfied destiny is in the Reds' hands.

"I feel confident about finishing top," the winger added. "We believe in ourselves and we know we only have eight games left. If we win all eight we will be champions. It is a simple thing, but it is going to be very tough."

"The players believe we can get the results – we have shown that over the last few games. We are confident we can do it."

Sir Alex Ferguson often calls on Park for United's big games and, if the Korean's recent impressive displays are anything to go by, he may well be involved in what would be only his third league game against Liverpool.

"I feel better playing at Manchester United," he added. "I have felt quite confident over the last few games – mentally I feel good. The fans have been supporting me and it makes me more confident about showing my ability on the pitch."
